Brand Focus #1 – Kat Von D Beauty

Any time I was going to the States on holiday, I would get ridiculously excited at the prospect of picking up new make up from brands we couldn’t get in the UK. Fast-forward a few years and many of those brands we coveted have arrived and are readily available to us. One of these brands, and the one that I probably got the most excited for was Kat Von D Beauty.

Kat Von D had been a well established and extremely popular brand in the US. It was always on my shopping list any time I visited Sephora so when Debenhams announced last year that KVD was hitting stores, I almost pee’d a little. The cherry on the cake came a few months later when I got an exciting email announcing the arrival of our very own KVD counter in Belfast at Debenhams, Castlecourt!

Over the last few years, I’ve built up a respectable collection of KVD’s products which i’m going to share with you all today!

Face

Kat Von D Beauty Review

KVD have all base products (primer, foundation, powder, concealer etc.). I haven’t tried all of these product (yet) but the first face product I was to pick up was the infamous Shade & Light Contour Palette. The palette houses six matte highlight and contour shades for all three undertones neutral, warm and cool. The powders are silky smooth and I find them very easy to blend. I particularly like the banana toned highlight powder for setting under my eyes and the middle contour shade works beautifully with my skin tone.

Another face product which I have tried (from my lovely sister) but isn’t pictured here is the Lock It Creme Concealer. This product means business when it comes to concealing. The formula is creamy and smooth but the coverage and longevity is insane! It also comes in a 20 strong shade range so there’s a shade for everyone – including the very pale!

Another dream product from the range is the Shade & Light Eye Palette (which I can’t find the link to online for some reason). This palette is an all matte dream. Sub-divided into three quads – cool, neutral and warm again – you can create multiple looks. Again the formulation is beautiful and I find these shadows pigmented whilst extremely blendable.

Sticking with eyes, my absolute hero product from the range has to be the Tattoo Liner. I have the shade Trooper which is a beautiful blackest black. The liquid liner pen has the finest tip, making it a fool proof product. The tip is flexible enough to create an effortless wing if that’s your look, but steady enough to draw a precise line on the eye. The staying powder is also incredible – I really need to work hard to remove this product at the end of the evening.

I also have a tube of the Immortal Lash 24 hour Mascara but i’ve yet to try it so can’t tell you anything asides from I like the packaging! Though the website claims that the mascara will lengthen, thicken and define with a 24 hour formula – sounds pretty good to me!

Lips

Kat Von D Everlasting Lipsticks

The first thing that got me interested in KVD were the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks. I was forever seeing these pop up on YouTube and couldn’t wait to try them for myself. I now have a modest collection of four shades-  Noble, Bow n Arrow, Lollita II and Double Dare. The formula is so smooth and as expected, very long wearing. My only gripe about these is the fact that they can be quite drying on the lips. I also have my eye on the newer nude shades Muñeca, Ophelia and Ludwig.

I also have one of the little mini Studded Kiss bullet lipsticks which was gifted to me in Sephora on one of my mental hauls. I have the shade bachelorette, a vivid red, which to be fair, I won’t wear because I only really do nudes, but I will keep because the packaging is just too cute. I have tried the shade on my lips and the formulation is smooth and creamy. I also found it to be very long lasting.

So there we have it, my first brand focus using my very own collection.

I think the next items on my hit list at the KVD counter is the Lock It Foundation and the fixing mist!

What have you tried from KVD? What should I go for next?

Thanks for reading!

  1. I literally love this brand so much, it’s lasting power is the best on the market! I really want to try the shade and light palette, love the fact that it’s blendable. And their lipsticks are incredible, but I do agree they can be a bit drying. If you want the PERFECT nude, I definitely recommend Ludwig, you’ll love it 😉 This was a great post xxx
