My Skincare Journey with Therapie Clinic, Belfast. Part 1 – Initial Consultation

A few weeks before Christmas I was lucky enough to have had a highly informative and enlightening skincare consultation with Wendy at Therapie Clinic, Belfast. I had been invited along to the salon to have a chat about my skincare concerns to see what Therapie could recommend to address these concerns.

The salon is located in the heart of Belfast City Centre at Cleaver House on Donegall Place. Upon arrival I was greeted warmly by reception and invited into a comfortable waiting area to wait on my therapist. As I sat on the relaxing leather couch filling in my skincare consultation card, I was struck by how busy the salon is. Although the waiting area was relaxing, there was a solid stream of clients coming and going throughout my visit, a testament I can imagine to the salon’s treatments and staff.

After a short wait, Wendy invited me to join her in a private consultation room to talk about my skincare issues. I immediately felt comfortable with Wendy, she seemed genuinely interested in talking about my skin and really wanted to find the right course of treatments for me that would offer real results. We chatted about the products that I am currently using in my routine and Wendy knowledgeably explained the difference between over the counter and pharmaceutical grade products (more on that later). I explained that I have a few broken veins around my nose that made me a little uncomfortable and that my main concerns were redness and dullness. Wendy examined my nose and advised that I could try laser therapy to remove the veins immediately which seemed appealing to me but she was also keen that I address my redness concern so was struggling between laser and a course of peels.

In the end we ended up agreeing on the peels as we felt that I could get the optimum benefit from this treatment and my broken veins were not as prominent as I imagined.

Wendy explained that she believed that I would benefit from the Image Skincare Signature Facelift Peel (also known as the Four Layers Peel). This peel is a real results-driven, entry-level peel designed for those suffering with redness or rosacea and dull/tired skin. Wendy explained that the facial would not be your standard “spa like” facial and that the active ingredients would mean that there may be some tingling but nothing too uncomfortable.

After chatting some more about products, Wendy encouraged me to incorporate some pharmaceutical grade products into my skincare routine to prepare my skin ahead of my treatment. The products that were recommended were two different cleansers:

  1. Image Skincare Vital C Hydrating Facial Cleanser which contains a high potency of Vitamin C to brighten and lighten the skin as it gently cleanses. Wendy suggested that I incorporate this every other day until my skin is used to the change, moving to daily thereafter.
  2. The second product that Wendy wanted me to incorporate into my routine was the Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser. Wendy cautioned that this was a bit more potent containing three exfoliating ingredients in the form of salicylic acid, lactic acid and glycolic acid. I was advised to use this once or twice a week to really brighten my skin and shed any dead skin.

Both of these cleansers, along with the full range from both brands, can be picked up at the Therapie salon directly.

I was also given some sample sizes of the popular Image Prevention+ daily moisturiser and another cleanser from the Ageless range to shock the skin into working harder every now and again in the weeks up to my first treatment.

My initial treatment is booked in for mid January. I think after the Christmas period spent drinking alcohol and eating too much bad food that my skin is definitely crying out for some help. I’m going to be documenting my journey on both the blog and social media so you can all see the results for yourself so be sure to stay tuned in.

If you are struggling with skin issues or perhaps have a wedding coming up next year, then why not book in for a free consultation at Therapie Clinic yourself here? The salon has a vast array of treatments to offer catering for any skin complaints. I truly believe that getting a professional consultation could work wonders and really helps you find the right path to getting your skin exactly how you want it.

Have you tried any professional treatments like this before?

Thanks for reading!
