NYX Haul and First Impressions

Hello Lovelies!!

On my last jaunt to Madrid, I couldn’t resist taking a trip to the NYX store (my sister coerced me into it really…).

I have never tried anything from NYX before (crazy, I know) so I was like a bit of a rabbit in the headlights when faced with the amount of products available in the Gran Via store, needless to say, I still managed to spend a pretty penny or two…..

I have always heard such wonderful things about the lip products from NYX so I went a bit crazy throwing them into my basket.

NYX appear to be most well known for their soft matte lip creams so after much rummaging around through the extensive shade ranged, I put three in my basket.

  1. Athens – a nude peach toned shade.
  2. Istanbul – an earth toned pink shade.
  3. Tokyo –  a very pale pink.

These lip products apply like a dream. They are silky smooth and really comfortable on the lips, and as a bonus, they smell amazing. They have a perfectly sized doe foot applicator which makes precision really easy. The formula is opaque yet lightweight – I will definitely be picking up some more in future.

I also picked up one of their Xtreme Shine Lip Creams to try in the shade Nude Peach Fuzz. This formula is different to the soft matte lip creams and I have to admit that I’m not a massive fan. I find the formula too thick and not as comfortable.

Sticking with the lip product spree, I also picked up two of their butter glosses in (a) Angel Food Cake (a rosy brown nude) and (2) Tiramisu (a peachy brown nude).

These glosses are also really creamy with a really high pigmentation and a totally non sticky formula. I’m not a huge lip gloss fan, but these are really enjoyable to wear and they taste divine too.

Figuring I had picked up enough lip products to last a year, I wondered over to the base products to see what was on offer. I swatched their blotting powder which felt like butter so I had to give it a whirl.

Over in the eye section, I really liked the idea of the Wonder Pencil which is said to be a concealer, eye liner and reverse lip liner in one. I also picked up one of the Micro Brow pencils which reminded me of my beloved ABH Brow Wiz and I have been really impressed with so far.

Finally, just when I thought I had spent enough money, whilst I was paying, the SA advised that i just had to pick up one of the lip primers to go along with my products. Of course I couldn’t resist and let her throw one in my bag – however the jury is still out on that one.

What other NYX products would you recommend? What do you think is their stand out products?

Thanks for reading! 🙂
