When I first seen that this product was launching, I thought it was a new foundation and immediately wanted to try it out. So when I learnt that it was actually a priming filter style product, I wasn’t so sure. That resolve lasted approximately 6 days after release. I watched one of Charlotte Tilbury’s Insta Tutorials and that was enough, I needed it in my life and quickly. Why are they so good at creating hype around a product?! It’s very expensive for us who can’t resist!
This year, Mr Lyns and I had a lovely low-key Valentines Day as we’re trying to save some money. We didn’t do flowers, chocolates and the big meal out and instead chose to have a gorgeous and intimate breakfast date at Miel et Moi before I had to rush off to act in a mock court trial (don’t ask) and I have to say that I loved it every bit as much as I would have had we went all out.
That being said, I do find that there is something that is good for the soul in spending an hour pampering yourself whether it be for a cute date night or a big girls night out. Taking the time for yourself and dolling yourself up can help make you feel a million dollars. Whilst it’s lovely to head off to the hairdressers and nail salon in preparation of your big evening, there are several things you can do at home which are more purse friendly and don’t take too much time.
A little while before Christmas I was kindle offered the chance to work with up and coming online chemist store, Chemist 4 U. I had never heard of the site before but after checking it out initially, I was really impressed with the range of products and brands on offer.
I had been very generously given £30 to spend on the site and I really wanted to see how far that could stretch rather than use it all on one item. This wasn’t difficult. The site is jam packed with bargains! So, what did I pick up?
I am always keen to try out new brands. Previously, I would have stuck to my trusty favourite brands but since I have started blogging, I’ve really branched out and started to incorporate many new brands into my routine.
Wonderland Makeup contacted me a few weeks ago and asked if I would be willing to try out a few of their best selling products from the collection. After checking the brand out, I learnt that Wonderland Makeup is a high-end, cruelty free brand which aims to bring good quality products to the market at affordable prices. I was really intrigued to see what their products were like so accepted their very kind invitation.
I’ve said it several times this year but, Temple Spa are fast becoming my favourite brand discovery of 2017. The brand really oozes luxury and quality which is lovely to add into your routine at home. Recently, I was very kindly gifted two items from their make up line to try out – the Stroke of Genius Serum Mascara and the Glint Dark Shadow Concealer.
The first thing that really struck me was the packaging. Gorgeous, sleek silver outer packaging housing shiny, weighty silver metal tubes inside. The packaging oozes luxury and indulgence which I am a huge fan of.
Not one to judge a book by it’s cover, I have used both products in my routine for the last 6-8 weeks or so to see how they perform in various situations.
Any time I was going to the States on holiday, I would get ridiculously excited at the prospect of picking up new make up from brands we couldn’t get in the UK. Fast-forward a few years and many of those brands we coveted have arrived and are readily available to us. One of these brands, and the one that I probably got the most excited for was Kat Von D Beauty.
I think i’ve been pretty well behaved when it comes to spending recently. I have really reigned myself in and purposely shied away from the new product releases. That was until this beauty landed. When I seen it on social media ahead of the launch, I knew I wanted it. Then when I swatched a pre release version in store at Debenhams, I knew I needed it. With the new and improved, frugal Lynsey, I decided to take a step back and if I was still thinking about it a few days later, pick it up. Needless to say, it only took two more days before it was mine…
