Date Night /Girls Night Out: Making Yourself Feel Good on a Budget

This year, Mr Lyns and I had a lovely low-key Valentines Day as we’re trying to save some money. We didn’t do flowers, chocolates and the big meal out and instead chose to have a gorgeous and intimate breakfast date at Miel et Moi before I had to rush off to act in a mock court trial (don’t ask) and I have to say that I loved it every bit as much as I would have had we went all out.

That being said, I do find that there is something that is good for the soul in spending an hour pampering yourself whether it be for a cute date night or a big girls night out. Taking the time for yourself and dolling yourself up can help make you feel a million dollars. Whilst it’s lovely to head off to the hairdressers and nail salon in preparation of your big evening, there are several things you can do at home which are more purse friendly and don’t take too much time.

Treating yourself with Chemist 4 U

A little while before Christmas I was kindle offered the chance to work with up and coming online chemist store, Chemist 4 U. I had never heard of the site before but after checking it out initially, I was really impressed with the range of products and brands on offer.

I had been very generously given £30 to spend on the site and I really wanted to see how far that could stretch rather than use it all on one item. This wasn’t difficult. The site is jam packed with bargains! So, what did I pick up?

Wonderland Make Up Review

I am always keen to try out new brands. Previously, I would have stuck to my trusty favourite brands but since I have started blogging, I’ve really branched out and started to incorporate many new brands into my routine.

Wonderland Makeup contacted me a few weeks ago and asked if I would be willing to try out a few of their best selling products from the collection. After checking the brand out, I learnt that Wonderland Makeup is a high-end, cruelty free brand which aims to bring good quality products to the market at affordable prices. I was really intrigued to see what their products were like so accepted their very kind invitation.

Temple Spa Make Up Review

I’ve said it several times this year but, Temple Spa are fast becoming my favourite brand discovery of 2017. The brand really oozes luxury and quality which is lovely to add into your routine at home. Recently, I was very kindly gifted two items from their make up line to try out – the Stroke of Genius Serum Mascara and the Glint Dark Shadow Concealer.

The first thing that really struck me was the packaging. Gorgeous, sleek silver outer packaging housing shiny, weighty silver metal tubes inside. The packaging oozes luxury and indulgence which I am a huge fan of.

Not one to judge a book by it’s cover, I have used both products in my routine for the last 6-8 weeks or so to see how they perform in various situations.

Brand Focus #1 – Kat Von D Beauty

Any time I was going to the States on holiday, I would get ridiculously excited at the prospect of picking up new make up from brands we couldn’t get in the UK. Fast-forward a few years and many of those brands we coveted have arrived and are readily available to us. One of these brands, and the one that I probably got the most excited for was Kat Von D Beauty.

Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette Review & Swatches

I think i’ve been pretty well behaved when it comes to spending recently. I have really reigned myself in and purposely shied away from the new product releases. That was until this beauty landed. When I seen it on social media ahead of the launch, I knew I wanted it. Then when I swatched a pre release version in store at Debenhams, I knew I needed it. With the new and improved, frugal Lynsey, I decided to take a step back and if I was still thinking about it a few days later, pick it up. Needless to say, it only took two more days before it was mine…

Kylie Costmetics KKW Collection Review

Hello lovelies!

I’ll admit it, I, like most of you, am usually open to the power of suggestion when it comes to new beauty products. However, there are a few brands out there that really suck me into their new launches and one of them is Kylie Cosmetics.

In April, when I seen on social media that this collection was launching and that the collection was a set of all nude lip cremes, I was already sold before I had seen swatches.

Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palettes- Too Faced and I Heart Makeup

Hello lovelies!

It’s no secret that I love a good luxury brand and product. However, that being said, I really enjoy find and exploring more affordable drugstore alternatives and dupes when they come my way – the money saved means more make up right?

This week I thought I would share my thoughts on the comparison of two chocolate bar eyeshadow palettes – the cult original from Too Faced and a more recent offering from Makeup Revolution’s sister brand, I Heart Make Up, Death By Chocolate palette. Although the shades in each palette are not the same, there are still many similarities.
