The best thing about having this little blog of mine is that I can continually pick up new make up items and can pretend that it’s so I can share them all with you lot! 🙂
I’ve been fortunate enough recently to try out a tonne of new products and I thought I’d tell you what’s new in make my make up stash with a few initial thoughts on each of the products!
As always, if there is anything featured that you’d like to see a full review on, please let me know in the comments!
The first two products are products that I’ve been alternating between for my base over the past couple of months, the iT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream (Oil Free)* and the BareMinerals Matte Mineral Foundation*.
Although my skin is dry, I like to change up the finish of my foundation when it comes to the colder Autumn/Winter months so it can be difficult to find oil free formulations and matte products that don’t dry my skin out further. Both of these foundations are perfect in that regard.
The iT Cosmetics CC Cream is a revelation. Whilst it is a CC cream, the coverage is ridiculously good and the staying power is fantastic. Although it is an oil free formula, the finish isn’t a dull matte but rather a glowy, demi-matte finish which looks super healthy and natural. I’ve got a full review of this product scheduled for next week as there is so much I want to say about it so keep your eyes peeled!
The BareMinerals foundation is something I was a little bit afraid of at first. I had the standard preconceptions that (a) mineral make up won’t give me any coverage and (b) a fully matte finish will make my skin look flat and dull. How wrong was I?! For a start, this foundation can be built up with ease from a sheer to full coverage, making it fully flexible for different looks. The finish is a healthy matte if that makes any sense. Pores are minimised, imperfections hidden and the skin looks healthy and flawless. The matte formulation won’t over dry the skin and the foundation is so pure that it won’t even cause break outs if you sleep in it!! Perfect for those (rare) nights when I just can’t take my make up off!!
Another new discovery recently has been this beautiful blush from Phase Zero Makeup at Love Me Beauty. As part of their testing panel, I was kindly sent the shade Making Moves and I am obsessed. Firstly the formulation is like silk, so buttery to touch. The pigmentation is insane and actually performs better than my beloved Nars blusher on that front! The shade is the most beautiful peachy pink with a hint of gold shimmer that is super flattering on the skin and delivers the healthiest pop of colour to the face. I’m dying to pick up more of the shades!
I had never tried anything from Misslyn before and I was so impressed with this Beach Please! Bronzing and Contouring Powder*. A gorgeous soft, matte texture this bronzer blends into the skin in a second leaving a healthy golden glow that can be built up as required. The packaging is super sweet retro-print pop-art, but the price point is the real talking point for me. At just £7.50 a pop, these little bronzing powders are seriously worth picking up (you can get them online at Beauty Bay).
Another new brand to me was OPV Beauty (also stocked on Beauty Bay). This London brand oozes glamour and takes inspiration from the bright lights and envy inducing looks of the Holywood red carpets. The Yemoja Eye Palette* is beyond stunning. Featuring 12 (huge) pans of the most gorgeous colours, I’m mesmerised each time I open it. There is a variety of matte, shimmer and foiled shades including the most impressive gold shade I have ever seen! I can’t wait to play with this palette throughout the party season!
Another gem from OPV is this amazing creme-based highlight in the shade Stardust (a gold shimmer). The formulation glides onto the skin smoothly and a little product creates a real impact. The staying power is impressive too. Another party season worthy product!
The final discovery in my stash of late is this Eye Brow Filler Gel* from German brand, Artdeco. A bit like Benefit’s Gimme Brow, this gel fills in gaps in the brows, whilst shaping and fixing the eyebrow hairs in place. I like to use this gel alongside my eyebrow pencil to create a real groomed look. The gel also contains a conditioning agent which improves the hair’s structure!
What is new in your make up stash? Have you tried anything from the brands included in this post? Tell me in the comments!
