When I first seen that this product was launching, I thought it was a new foundation and immediately wanted to try it out. So when I learnt that it was actually a priming filter style product, I wasn’t so sure. That resolve lasted approximately 6 days after release. I watched one of Charlotte Tilbury’s Insta Tutorials and that was enough, I needed it in my life and quickly. Why are they so good at creating hype around a product?! It’s very expensive for us who can’t resist!
As always, the packaging is dreamy with a sturdy glass bottle and Charlotte’s signature rose gold lid. It feels nice and weighty like a luxury product. The applicator is a large doe foot which you can use to dot the product around your face as required. You get a decent 30ml of product for £30 which is expensive enough for a ‘primer’ but comparable to other high end brands.
The product comes in 7 different shades for various skin tones. I picked up the shade Light/Medium 3 which is described as a neutral peach. If you aren’t sure which shade to go for, stick with whatever shade you are in the Magic Foundation or Light Wonder if you have either of them.
CT describe the Flawless Filter as follows:
“… A customisable complexion booster with the versatility of a primer, the mega-watt glow of a highlighter, and the perfecting properties of your favourite digital filter. Ingredients help to soft-focus, illuminate skin and makes lines and pores appear smoother.”
An Instagram filter for the skin? Eh, yes please! Get on my face immediately!
The texture of the product is creamy and thicker than I expected, on par with a heavy duty foundation, but it blends in with ease and doesn’t feel heavy on the skin, though there is a little bit of a silicone feeling left behind.
So what does it actually do?
You can use the product in a number of ways to suit your needs:
- on it’s own for a healthy glow with a little coverage;
- as a primer under make up to give a more subtle glow;
- mixed in with foundation to add a dewniess to the skin; and
- on top of foundation, as a highlighter.
I’ve tried all four ways and I’ve really enjoyed the different results.
On it’s own, I’ve applied the filter as generously to my face and blended in as I would foundation with a brush. The result is beautiful. It gives me such a healthy glow and really gives me confidence to leave the house without make up as it evens out my skin tone and gives just enough coverage to not feel completely bare faced.
Used as a primer, the product produces a much more subtle glow. If you use it as a primer with a full coverage foundation, the result is going to be minimally noticeable. However, I really liked using this with one of my lighter coverage foundations for days when I want a “no make up, make up look” and the result is dewy and radiant but still subtle.
When you mix the product in with foundation, it really amps up the glow results. I really like adding a few drops to my Magic Foundation as it changes the demi matte finish to something fresher and healthier looking for Spring.
Finally, a couple of dots on the cheek bones where you would ordinarily apply highlighter, gives the most beautiful glow. I like to blend into my skin using a damp beauty blender or my fingers. The result is very noticeable and I’ve had multiple comments on my highlight when I’ve used the product like this.
I really love products which give me a glow so I think that this was always going to be a hit with me. The lamellar filler which produces the “Instagram filter” for the skin really works. It is great at blurring pores, imperfections and evening skin tone whilst adding radiance to the skin. I have honestly barely put this product down since I picked it up!
Have you tried CT products? What are your favourites from the brand?

Like you, I thought this was going to be a foundation and I kinda wish it was! That being said, I’m enjoying wearing it as a primer! xx
