If you follow me on social media, you’ll know that there are a few brands that I have a serious love affair with and Alpha H is definitely one of those brands. The brand specialises in resurfacing and regularising troublesome skin and were one of the pioneers of skincare when it came to the use of glycolic acid. Over the past few years, I have tried many of the brands products and to be honest, there haven’t been too many that I haven’t loved. Although I like the majority of the products that I’ve tried, there are some real stand out products that I will repurchase again and again.
So if you’re new to Alpha H as a skincare brand and want to explore it, what do are the products that I really rate?
Probably the brand’s most famous product, this has earned cult status and I can understand why. Formulated with 5% natural glycolic acid (from the sugar cane), this exfoliant stimulates cell turnover by using AHAs to slough away the dead skin cells that are bound to the skin, leaving the healthy “new” cells in their place. The product also lowers the skin’s pH level which helps stimulate cellular activity in terms of the renewal and repair process whilst clearing pores and diminishing the appearance of dark spots and scars. It really is a hero product for any routine.
I’ve used this for years, around twice a week is all that my skin needs personally. When I stop using it, my skin really misses it and starts to look a little dull so it definitely does something for me. I would say if you pick up just one thing from the brand, make it this!
The next product that I simply adore is another of their bestsellers in the form of this intensely hydrating serum which also contains primalhayl ultrafillers to plump and firm the skin. I raved about this product in my post on Hyaluronic acids so I won’t bang on too much. But simply put, the serum contains 8 multi weighted hyaluronic acid molecules which allow for deeper (and more beneficial) penetration of the skin’s layers to plump and firm the skin. This product really works for me. I can’t speak to it’s ability to plump out deeper lines and wrinkles (thankfully) but I can definitely see a noticeable plumping to my fine lines around my eyes and skin generally. My skin feels hydrated and comfortable and the serum sinks in extremely quickly, perfect for mornings when you’re short on time.
This scrub is one of the best “grainy” scrubs that I’ve ever used. Sometimes I just need to feel a little “grit” when exfoliating and this is perfect as it’s not too harsh or at all irritating due to the gentle, bio degradable jojoba wax beads! It’s got peppermint and cucumber which makes for a really refreshing experience that’s perfect for morning use. It fights blemishes, deeply cleans the pores and somewhat plumps lines due to the inclusion of caffeine, all whilst eliminating dead skin cells. It also contains 12% glycolic acid to add a bit more oomph to the exfoliation process. The beads “burst” as they’re massaged into the skin and release pure jojoba oil which help maintain the skin’s moisture levels too. So for me, it really ticks all the boxes. After use my skin feels super smooth and looks fresh and radiant.
I think the packaging of this product has changed since I got this one and it now comes in a squeezy tube with a cool metal applicator and this makes it even more appealing to me. This eye gel has been one of my favourite eye products that I’ve used. And trust me, I’ve used a lot. I’m gutted to see the end of my tube of this. I mentioned before that I’m paying particular attention to my eye area as that is the place I can see the pesky ageing process trying to start (pffft). This eye gel is designed to fight dark circles, puffiness and hyperpigmentation under the eye area. It’s really lightweight, sinks in almost immediately and actually primes the eye area for make up too. Applying this in the morning is a real treat, it’s refreshing and really helped wake me up. It’s packed with mild flower acids and my good friend hyaluronic acid as well as peptides making it a heavy hitter in terms of results as far as I’m concerned. As soon as I finish up another couple of products, this will be a repurchase for sure.
Clear Skin Blemish Control Mask*
I’m pretty lucky because I really don’t often suffer from too many spots (thank wee baby Jesus) but I still get the odd hormonal break out and my skin can get congested. This pore purging mask is ideal for those with oily or acne prone skin but even for my normal skin, I find myself reaching for it once every few weeks. It is a clay based mask that gently draws out impurities whilst rebalancing the skin. You can smell the fresh scent of tea tree and eucalyptus which treats red and inflamed blemishes whilst aloe vera soothes the skin and acts as an antiseptic. This mask can be used as a preventative measure to clear the pores or also as an emergency spot treatment. After use my skin feels fresh, clean and calm. It’s genuinely the first mask I’ll reach for if my skin’s playing up.
