IT Cosmetics CC Cream – Which Formula is for you?

-This post contains gifted products.

The iT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream has been a cult favourite of beauty aficionados across the world for years garnering rave reviews far and wide. Early last year I was introduced to their oil free formula which you may remember, I adored and since then I have been fortunate enough to try the other formulations in the range to compare.

Everybody has heard about BB Creams or ‘beauty balms’ but the majority that I’ve tried generally don’t have enough coverage for my liking. CC Creams on the other hand are a staple in my make up routine. The ‘CC’ stands for colour correcting which makes creams like this perfect for my redness prone Irish skin.

The iT Cosmetics offering delivers a whopping 7 benefits in one which really makes it stand out from the crowd. The cream promises to:

  1. give full coverage results;
  2. brighten the complexion;
  3. correct the colour of the skin;
  4. help with anti-ageing due to the addition of SPF50;
  5. hydrate and nourish the skin;
  6. reduce the appearance of pores; and
  7. reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

On top of all of that, the brand promise a long wear time and that the product won’t crease on the skin!

The packaging is a simple plastic tube with a pump dispenser for ease of use. You can see the product inside as well as feel it deplete so you won’t be suddenly surprised to find that you have no product left which has happened to me with other foundations in the past. It’s a simple observation but one worth noting in my opinion.

Whilst the benefits of the creams remain the same across the board, they comes in 12 varying shades with 3 different formulations. The shades come up a little dark. I personally wear the shade Fair when I am not tanned but prefer the Light shade when I have a little bit of colour on. The formula is thicker than I initially expected which means that I prefer to apply it with a brush or beauty blender rather than use my finger tips. It blends out really easily on the skin and doesn’t require an obscene amount of work to achieve a natural finish, perfect for those mornings when you’ve hit snooze a few too many times!

Whilst it is claimed that this foundation is full coverage, Im not sure I fully agree. Whilst it does offer a solid medium coverage that can be built up, it doesn’t cover my every blemish. But I like that. I reach for this when I am going for a day appropriate look, not when I’m going out for the night. It covers what I want it to but leaves a natural finish that generally makes me look healthier.

The wear time is excellent too. I get a good 6-7 hours before I notice any shine coming through or wear off (though I get less wear time with the luminous version).

So which formula is right for you?

For those that want a natural finish or those with normal or combination skin, I would recommend the original CC+ Cream is the one for you. I generally have normal skin but it can change throughout the seasons like everybody else.

For those with oily skin, the oil free matte formulation will be your best friend. It really does keep shine at bay and although it has a matte finish, it isn’t flat. This has the longest wear time on my skin, and surprisingly I think it’s my favourite formulation even though I’m not oily skinned. I just love how my skin looks when I wear this.

For the glowgetters our there, the illumination cream is beautiful and really does offer a healthy, lit from within glow. Those with oily skin won’t like this product at all as it is very luminous. I like to use a bit of powder in my t zone to tone the glow down just a little.

Have you tried this cult foundation before? What’s your favourite formulation? Tell me in the comments!
