I am always keen to try out new brands. Previously, I would have stuck to my trusty favourite brands but since I have started blogging, I’ve really branched out and started to incorporate many new brands into my routine.

Wonderland Makeup contacted me a few weeks ago and asked if I would be willing to try out a few of their best selling products from the collection. After checking the brand out, I learnt that Wonderland Makeup is a high-end, cruelty free brand which aims to bring good quality products to the market at affordable prices. I was really intrigued to see what their products were like so accepted their very kind invitation.

The brand very kindly sent me three products to try:

1. Studio Finish Primer (£15.00);
2. Blush in Go Go Girlie (£10.00); and
3. Eyeshadow in Earth (£7.50).

I have been putting the products through their paces over the last month or so and my feelings are mixed.

I’ll start with my favourite product of the bunch, the Studio Finish Primer. This stuff really impressed me. Wonderland Makeup claim that it is suitable for all skin types including sensitive, dry and oily so I was intrigued. The primer is a clear gel that feels quite “siliconey” to touch. I used a pea-sized amount particularly working the product into my pores around my nose and t-zone to keep any shine at bay whilst at work. I found that the primer really filled in my larger pores and gave me a lovely smooth base for applying my base. I found that this really helped the longevity of some of my less heavy-duty foundations, extending wear time by a few hours which I was super pleased about. It helped block any shine coming through on my t-zone and didn’t make my skin feel at all greasy which some silicone based primers can do. I will definitely use this again.

The first thing that struck me about the blush was the colour. It’s a bright baby pink which was a little daunting to me at first. I usually wear a blush with a more peachy undertone so this was out of my comfort zone entirely. Being the little trooper that I am, I gave this a go and was blown away by the pigmentation. A little honestly goes a very long way. Whilst in this instance, the shade isn’t something I would ordinarily wear on a day to day basis and a heavy hand with this colour is a disaster waiting to happen, I really liked the formula of the product and wouldn’t rule out trying a more “me” shade in the future. This product was also very long wearing, lasting on my skin for a solid 8 hours!

The final product was the disappointment of the bunch for me sadly. The eyeshadow I was sent was in the shade Earth which is a deep mossy green. The first time I swatched the eyeshadow from the pan, it swatched chalky on my hand and felt almost “crumbly” if that makes sense? I tried the shade on my eyes a week later and while again this wasn’t a colour I would ordinarily choose for myself but it’s always nice to try different shades and experiment. The formulation just didn’t work for me unfortunately. I found it to be more difficult to work with than some of my other shadows and I found the more I blended, it almost disappeared. Perhaps it was just the shade that I had and some of the other colours don’t have that issue but for £7.50 per pot, I’d be more inclined to pick up a single pan from MakeUp Geek if I’m honest.

All in all, I really enjoyed my introduction to Wonderland Makeup. The packaging is simple and clean and I really love that the brand is cruelty free. The primer is something that I would repurchase in a heart beat as I really seen the results of using it and I would definitely pick up another one of their blush shades as the formulation is amazing. I would be keen to try out their Studio Finish Foundation or their Lash Lengthening or Thickening Mascaras next.
