I’m a skincare junkie. There’s no denying it. And if there is a cure, I actually don’t want it.
Trying out new skincare products and lines is one of my absolute favourite things to do. That joy of discovering a new hero product is so exciting to me. So when the lovely guys at Ophrys contacted me and asked me to try out their new line, I couldn’t say no.
The brand is a dermal skincare company based in Switzerland and the products are all very sciencey utilising the brand’s patented hydration technology, Mini Hax!
So what does that mean?
In a nutshell the products use that gem of an ingredient, hyaluronic acid, except this one is a low molecular hyaluronic acid. Put simply, the low molecular formula penetrates way deeper into the skin’s layers and than a standard hyaluronic acid which means much deeper hydration!
I met with the lovely Adam from the brand a while back and I have to be honest, he was beyond generous when he gave me the samples to try out. I have put them properly through their paces now so I’m ready to share my thoughts!First up I tried the brand’s Facial Cleanser. Targeting those with dry, dehydrated skin or for those with inflammation or irritated skin, the gel formula aims to nourish, calm and gently cleanse the skin without causing any irritation. It is packed with gentle fruit extract to loosen dirt and impurities along with Vitamin E to soothe the skin.
The first thing I noticed about the cleanser was the fact that it was fragrance free (all of the products are). Perfect for sensitive skin, but a bit disappointing for me, we all know I love a nice scent. It’s not a deal breaker though.
The gel has a nice consistency which melts into the skin as you massage it in. I particularly liked this cleanser in the mornings as I thought my skin got the most benefits from it by using it on clean skin. I wasn’t convinced on its make up removing properties if I’m honest, but I do wear full coverage make up most days!
I also incorporated both the Eye Gel and Facial Moisturiser into my routine and was keen to see if they lived up to their intense moisturising claims.
The facial moisturiser was perhaps the hero product from the range for me. It has a non sticky formula, sinks in well and leaves my skin feeling super soft. The mini hax technology promises to offer deeper and more long lasting hydration which is precisely what my dry skin has been needing recently. It left a lovely smooth base which made make up application a dream afterward.
The eye gel is a thicker consistency than I’m used to and takes a little while to sink in. For that reason, I’ve dubbed this a night time eye cream or one for no make up days. Marine extracts help promote collagen production and plant enzymes deal with those pesky dark circles. The eye cream really does plump my eye area and feels nice and cooling on the skin.
The final facial product that I tried out was the brand’s facial SPF. I’m really making a conscious effort this year to ensure I’m wearing a SPF on my face so I was happy to try this product out. This particular product has a SPF 46 (random, right?) which offers protection from both UVA and UVB rays. It is oil and paraben free meaning it’s not going to block pores like other sunscreens can. I really like this product but be warned, a little goes a very long way. The first time I used this, a pump produced enough product to cover my face, neck and chest. It feels light enough on the skin and keeps my skin hydrated while it protects. This has become one of my staples in my skincare routine!
Ophrys is distributed in the UK by 4T Medical and will be available in clinics and other specialists throughout 2018.
