I’m a skincare junkie. You’d need to be a blind person not to have noticed that by now. When a brand that I love, launches something new, I can’t wait to try it.
Alpha H is such a dreamy skincare brand which specialises in regulating sensitive skin types and resurfacing overactive skin. The brand’s founder, Michelle Doherty started the brand after spending years trying to combat her own adult acne and the brand is credited with being pioneers when it comes to the use of glycolic acid in skincare routines. If you haven’t tried anything from the brand, you need to rectify that immediately. Trust me.
They recently launched their Essential Skin Perfecting Moisturiser and when I was kindly offered the chance to trial the product, it was a no brainer but to say yes. Designed as a multi-purpose, time saving beauty product, I couldn’t wait to get this on my face.
It’s no secret that our skin is under continued stress and attack from out lifestyles, environmental and urban aggressors which can cause premature ageing. Increased use of computers, tablets and smart phones means that our skin is almost constantly exposed to blue light which attacks our collagen reserve. Air conditioning and heating systems are continually zapping our skin’s moisture and pollution is clinging to our skin on our daily commute to work.
Traditionally moisturisers have been designed to simply moisturise, being just one step in our skincare routine. This beauty from Alpha H however is here to change that. We’re all short on time and this moisturiser is designed to deliver a number of benefits at once, meaning you can apply and run out the door in the morning without worrying that you haven’t completed your 12 step routine and resting easy that your skin is well protected.
This 5 in 1 moisturiser claims to moisturise, prime, shield against blue light and pollution all whilst filtering UV light. The ingredient list is full of scientifically proven antioxidants.
In terms of actual moisturisation, you’ll find niacinamide and shea butter to hydrate and nourish which my skin just loves.
New Zealand Pine Bark extract is a superior antioxidant with greater antioxidant benefits than Vitamin C. It helps protect cells from UV damage whilst stimulating new cells and in turn extending the life of the dermal matrix.
Cureberry stimulates the skin’s production of the body’s most powerful antioxidant and is also credited with protecting the skin from blue light.
Pollushield places a microscopic, protective barrier over the skin’s surface to help limit the skin’s absorption of urban grime, micro particles and toxic aggressors. Throughout clinical studies, Pollushield has been proven to trap between 74% and 97% of all pollutants over a 6 hour period. Sounds impressive right?
The formulation of the moisturiser is also packed full of peptides to help encourage collagen production (we all know that I love this), increase the skin’s firmness and plump the depth of any wrinkles or fine lines. Studies have shown that daily application of these peptides also help the complexion become more smooth and even toned.
The texture of the moisturiser is velvety smooth and lightweight. It is non-greasy and my skin quickly drinks it up which makes it an ideal primer for make up application quickly after use. The scent of the cream is beautiful, floral and fresh and very similar to the delicious rose scent of the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel in my opinion! After use, my skin is silky smooth, comfortable and hydrated.
At £39.99 for 50ml, this is a little pricier than the usual day creams that I would reach for but the science and benefits totally outweigh the price in my mind. Knowing how protected my skin is when using this product is worth every penny for me.
