Night Time Routine for a Restful Sleep

As I mentioned previously, I have been making a conscious effort to try and get a decent sleep at night. Things are hectic at the moment and it doesn’t take long before I can start to feel run down and end up feeling unwell. I have discovered some great products recently to help me wind down and get a good night’s sleep.

So what are my tips?

The first thing that I do is light my Scent to Sleep candle from Neom in the bedroom to let it burn for an hour an envelope the bedroom in it’s calming scent of lavender, basil and jasmine. The scent is amazing and definitely helps calm my mind.

Next, if I have time, I take myself off to the bath for a soak. I have a tonne of bath products including some amazing oils from Aromatherapy Associates and Jo Malone, but recently I have found myself reaching for these Detox Epsom Bath Salts from Dr. Teals*.  The salts boost magnesium levels and restore muscle function whilst soothing, ds-stressing and relaxing the mind. These salts have proven particularly useful on evenings when I’ve actually made it to the gym too…At just £7.99 for a huge bag, they’re a total bargain. I can’t wait to try out the Lavender salts or the moisturising Avocado salts next!

After my soak, I have recently been lathering myself in this Magnesium Sleep Lotion* from Better You, focussing on my neck, shoulders and legs. The lotion contains a blend of magnesium chloride, lavender and chamomile to help relax muscles and calm the mind. Magnesium is clinically proven to improve sleep quality, meaning that I wake refreshed and revitalised. The scent of lavender and chamomile is super soothing and relaxing which helps me slip into a restful sleep with ease.

To up my lavender game, i’ve also started applying a few drops of Doterra* lavender oil to the soles of my feet to really relax me. I’ve been exploring a number of different Doterra essential oils and I have been so impressed with the number of uses each oil has! I got mine from the lovely TheDropGenie on Instagram – check her out!

Before I get into bed, I spritz my pillow with a few drops of theFeather and Down Pillow Mist which is proven to help you fall asleep faster and wake more refreshed. I have been quite anxious lately with worrying and I find that the combination of the candle and this spray really help me calm and quieten my mind.

I’m not going to lie and say that I get into bed and turn off all electronics (I know that it effects your sleep but…). Instead, I wind down for a little while by watching something on Netflix on my iPad or by reading a good book on the Kindle. That winding down and not thinking is so important for me to relax and personally, those are the ways in which I find work best for me.

In order to block out any street lights that poke through the curtains, I have started wearing this sleep mask from BedtimeBliss* . I was never a fan of eye masks in the past as I always felt like they squashed my eyes. This contoured, lightweight version is so good though and doesn’t put any pressure on my eyes whatsoever. It comes with a handy travel pouch and ear plugs too which have proved useful for evenings when Mr Lynsey has the fan on to cool down! You can pick one up from Amazon for less than a tenner, well worth the investment in my eyes.

What do you do to relax and help you sleep? Tell me in the comments below!

Thanks for reading!
