The Highlighter Edit – Part 1 – High End

Hello lovelies!!

Highlighter has really become such a “staple” product in all of our make up bags in the past few years. I, like every other female in the land, have become a little obsessed with highlighters and spend hours researching and sourcing new additions to the collection.

Today I share with you all my most loved high end highlighters…

ABH Glow Kit in Sundipped

It wouldn’t be a highlighter edit without including one of these coveted glow kits would it? I picked this up a few months back in a Sephora order and the original glow kits appear to be becoming more rare of late. I do love all the beautiful shades, but as this is an edit, I’m limiting myself to one “favourite”. OK, two because I can’t pick. Summer (champagne with white gold finish) and Moonstone (peach with pearl finish) are my most reached for from this palette and the pigmentation is absolutely mind blowing. Just one swipe of these highlighters delivers the most insane highlight. I can’t get enough. I WANT EVERY KIT. I WANT IT EVERYWHERE.

MAC Soft and Gentle

After Benefit’s High Beam, this is where the highlighter obsession really took off for me. I picked this up a few years ago in duty free. I had my make up bag stolen by a naughty baboon in Kenya (that’s an entire story in itself) and thought I would never see this again (well until I arrived home and went straight to MAC…). However, my make up angel was looking down on me and the following day, my make up bag was located and sent ahead to my next safari lodge. Many of the products had been smashed/ruined, however, this remained in tact and my love for the product deepened right there and then. Three things about this product:

  1. it lasts FOREVER – I mean it – mine is heavily used and I haven’t dented it;
  2. it gives the most glowy golden sheen to the skin; and
  3. it looks amazing with a tan on holiday.

CoverFX Custom Enhancer Drops in Sunlight

There was such hype about these drops during the Summer when they launched and rightly so! These liquid highlighters have the most intense, metallic finish I have ever seen. If you want to seriously glow – this is the way forward. I use the shade sunlight which is a darker champagne-bronze colour. The formula dries down (quickly) to an almost smudge proof finish and can be added to foundation to add a real dewy, healthy glow. This can also be mixed with foundation to create a really dewy finish which I love.

Becca Champagne Pop

Could I not mention this?! Everybody knows about this highlighter. It is so mega hyped that my 13 year old sister is so desperate for this to land in her pile at Christmas that I think she would sell my granny for it…The texture is like butter, the colour pay off is incredible and a little goes a long way. The highlighter itself is a pretty peachy-gold which works well on both tanned and lighter skin tones. There’s not a week that passes when I don’t reach for this at least once. I really want to add more Becca highlighters to my collection.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Glow Stick Spotlight

This is the most interesting of the bunch. A mix of gold and silver pigments deliver the most flattering universal glow to skin. The balance of gold and silver means that it works well on both warm and cool tones. The applicator reminds me of sunblock sticks from years ago and is specially designed for swiping the cheek in one go. You can blend this easily with a brush, fingertips or a beauty blender and the stick form is perfect for adding a swipe of glow to the collarbone and shoulders.

The next instalment will be on my favourite affordable highlighters and there really are some that give these ones a good run for their money!

What are your favourite high end highlighters?

Thanks for reading.
